Ingredients Breakdown
Lanolin
Wool-derived skin protector
Recovered from sheep’s wool. Lanolin is the natural waxy coating sheep produce to protect their wool and skin. It has a long history in skin preparations, and we use it because it softens, protects, and helps hold moisture in the lips.
Castor Oil
Seed pressed gloss and hydration
Pressed from castor seeds. Castor oil has been used in traditional beauty for centuries. Its naturally thick texture gives lip products body, slip, and a rich glass-like shine.
Beeswax
Honeybee-made balm builder
Produced naturally by honeybees. Beeswax has been used in balms and ointments for thousands of years. We use it to give a formula structure while also helping soften and protect the lips.
Coconut MCT Oil
Lightweight coconut derived softener
Usually derived from coconut or palm-kernel oil. (We use Coconut derived) Medium-chain fatty acids are separated and combined with glycerin to make a light, stable cosmetic oil. We use it to improve glide and soften the feel of heavier oils.
Kaolin Clay
Mineral texture and color depth balancer
A naturally occurring mineral clay. Clays have been used for cosmetic and skin purposes since antiquity. Kaolin adds body, absorbs some excess oil, and helps balance the texture of a formula.
Mica
Natural Mineral Illuminator
A naturally occurring mineral. Cosmetic mica is purified and processed before use. We use it to create soft reflection, luminosity, and shimmer.
Iron Oxides
Mineral color builders
Mineral-based pigments. Cosmetic iron oxides are refined or manufactured to achieve consistent purity and color. They create reds, yellows, browns, and deeper tones that give a shade warmth and depth.
Vitamin E
Plant derived formula protector
Note: we only use pure sunflower derived vitmamin E oil, we do not and would never use canola, or soy.
Natural mixed tocopherols are commonly concentrated from oils such as sunflower, soybean, or rapeseed/canola oil, depending on the supplier. We use vitamin E primarily as an antioxidant to help slow oxidation of the oils in the formula, while also contributing skin-conditioning benefits.
Rosemary Oleoresin
Botanical antioxidant extract
Extracted from rosemary leaves. This concentrated, oil-soluble rosemary extract is rich in antioxidant compounds such as carnosic acid and carnosol. We use it to help protect the oils in the formula from oxidation and extend their freshness.
Carnauba Wax
Heat resistant palm wax
Harvested from the leaves of the carnauba palm, native to Brazil. The wax naturally coats the leaves and is collected, refined, and used in cosmetics for firmness and structure. It is harder and has a higher melting point than beeswax, so a small amount can make a balm or stick more heat-resistant and durable.
Flavor Oils
Natural sensory finish
Steam distilled from peppermint leaves. Adds the naturally fresh, cooling mint character to the formula.
